fearless fifth

The International Association of Fire Fighters Fifth District is proud to represent over 7000 professional fire fighters and paramedics from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.  We have their back as they go and do their jobs day-in, day-out. We fight to ensure they have the hours, wages, working conditions, health and safety and retirement security they need to effectively and safely do their jobs.

Our members sacrifice for their communities on and off the job. They put themselves in harm’s way for their neighbors when the bell rings, and come to their neighbor’s side off duty when any need arises through support of local charitable efforts. We are proud to partner with them. Our members provide excellence in public safety, and we are never afraid to have their backs!

Our
Initiatives

Organizing

The Fifth District is a leader in the IAFF in organizing new locals. We believe it is our duty to organize the unorganized.

Training

A union leader’s job is incredibly complicated. In any given day you are expected to know legal maneuvers to fight a case, fire safety standards, or to act as a counselor for a struggling member.

peer support

Fire fighters and paramedics experience duty related traumatic events on a regular basis. These events take a cumulative toll, and our members need support in order to cope, recover, and move forward in their careers and their lives.
